Spasticity Research

The primary measure of spasticity employed in our labs has been through use of electromyographic responses to imposed length changes in hyperactive muscles from torque motor manipulations or during volitional movements. The impact of several interventions, including EMG biofeedback and stretch reflex conditioning, has been quantified through integration of EMG responses or exploring changes in variability of averaged muscle responses during repeated functionally-oriented movements.
