The Emory School Of Medicine Alumni Newsletter, Making Rounds, Fall 2014 featured an article on Service Learning efforts with the South Georgia Farmworker Health Project.
Dr. Pullen, Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine in the Emory Division of Physical Therapy, is quoted nicely in, “In the Field with the South Georgia Farmworker Health Project”. This article speaks to the importance of physical therapy in the project and as a whole in an IPE context. Additionally, it gives great visibility to the DPT Program within the School Of Medicine. Fifth Annual White Coat Ceremony Held for DPT Class of 2017
The Annual DPT White Coat Ceremony was held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the sanctuary at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on the Emory University campus. The ceremony marks the students’ transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences and also initiates them in physical therapy ethics. More
Service of Gratitude – Held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Canon Chapel
After successful completion of their Anatomy course, the first year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students, held a Service of Gratitude to honor the gift of cadavers they received to pursue their studies in anatomy. Emory DPT Receives Awards at APTA Foundation Gala
Emory University DPT Students attended the NEXT Conference and the Foundation for Physical Therapy’s Gala event held in Charlotte, NC. The Honorable Mention and the Philanthropy Circle/Challenge Society awards for the 2013-2014 Miami-Marquette Challenge were presented to our students pictured above at the Gala. The Philanthropy Circle/Challenge Society level award acknowledges Emory's cumulative fundraising total of above $100,000. Congratulations to the DPT students for their hard work and diligence!

Bruce Greenfield appointed to APTA Ethics and Judicial Committee
The APTA Board of Directors has appointed Bruce Greenfield to serve on its Ethics and Judicial Committee for the period of 07/01/2014- 06/30/2019. Dr. Greenfield is an Associate Professor at Emory University School of Medicine and has an extensive ethics background. He has a faculty affiliation with the Center for Ethics at Emory and also serves on the Emory Hospital Ethics Committee.
The purpose of the APTA Ethics and Judicial Committee, as outlined in the APTA Bylaws, Article I.X.B is to:
- Interpret the ethical principles and standards of the Association.
- Propose revisions of the ethical principles and standards of the Association and the Disciplinary Action Procedural Document of the Association.
- Make revisions, as necessary, to the documents that interpret the ethical principles and standards of the Association and disseminate these documents for the management of judicial affairs.
- Promote activities for the dissemination of information on ethics.
- Process reported violations of ethical principles and standards in accordance with approved procedures.
- Make final decisions in disciplinary proceedings against a member, subject only to appeal to the Board of Directors by the member.
- Carry out other duties as may be requested by the Board of Director.
Zoher Kapasi Elected to Serve on the Board of Directors of ACAPT
Dr. Zoher Kapasi, Associate Professor and Director of the Division of Physical Therapy, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT). A component of the American Physical Therapy Association, ACAPT is charged with the advancement of academic physical therapy, including didactic education, clinical education and post-professional residencies, fellowships and degrees. Dr. Kapasi’s election to this position signifies a national recognition of his leadership skills and dedication to our profession. Congratulations Dr. Kapasi!
