ING

Emory Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is proud to be a sponsor of the ING Georgia half marathon wheelchair race.  ING race director, Victoria Seahorn expects 20 elite wheelers and 10 community wheelers to participate in this event.   The Emory program will be providing training sessions for the racers, hosting a booth at the Expo before the race and lining up expert cyclists to ride with the wheelers during the half marathon event.  Over 50 faculty, students and staff have signed up to help with this event.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us.  Not only do we have the chance to support this premier event but we so very much agree with the underlying concept of the ING Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon – its an event for people who never thought they could participate in a half or full marathon as well as for athletes.  One of the most exciting aspects for us is that the wheelers will consist of experienced athletes and also of people who will do the race side by side with the runners and walkers who make up the main pack of the race.   Therapists, staff and physicians of the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine and the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, as well as the students in the DPT program are all helping.”

Susan Herdman, Director of the Emory University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
