Emory Physical Therapy Graduate, Megan Brock, Receives Mary McMillan Scholarship Award

Physical therapist and member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Megan Brock, PT, DPT, of Decatur, Georgia, received the APTA Mary McMillan Scholarship Award. She was honored during an awards ceremony at PT 2010: APTA's Annual Conference and Exposition, held in Boston, MA, June 2010.

As a student at Emory University, Brock volunteered much of her time to meeting the rehabilitation needs of underserved populations. She received a grant from Emory's Global Health Institute to
pilot a partnership between the university and a medical facility in Guatemala for ongoing collaboration to improve rehabilitation care. Brock also served as physical therapy team leader for the South Georgia Farmworker Health Project where she piloted student physical therapist involvement in providing rehabilitation and ergonomic education to migrant farm workers in free medical clinics.

Brock has been the recipient of many awards, scholarships and honors, but most notably was selected as the 2009 graduate student recipient of the 2009 Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

APTA's Mary McMillan Scholarship Award honors Mary McMillan (Deceased 1959) who was a dedicated pioneer of physical therapy in the United States and abroad. This award recognizes outstanding physical therapy students who are nearing the completion of their program of study.
